August 22, 2022 – MORRISTOWN, NJ – Each September, pain practitioners from around the country gather at PAINWeek to learn from recent research, discuss innovations in pain treatment and management, and network with their peers.

This year, Fern Health, a leading digital platform for chronic pain management, will showcase its chronic pain solution that helps users better manage their pain from anywhere. Born out of a clinical partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital, Fern’s solution aims to bring evidence-based practices out of the clinic in order to address the larger national pain crisis that includes the millions of Americans living with chronic pain conditions such as musculoskeletal issues, headaches, and fibromyalgia.

Core to Fern’s solution is the biopsychosocial approach, which helps users of the program address the root causes of pain rather than just the symptoms. This approach is proven to improve pain-related clinical and functional outcomes, but access to this approach is limited within the U.S.

Fern intends to change that. Fern’s digital, multimodal program provides educational content and activities that help users understand the physical, behavioral, and social components of pain.  The core components of the Fern Health chronic pain program are:

  • Evidence-based pain neuroscience education that changes the way the brain recognizes pain and reduces fear, stress, and anxiety related to pain.
  • 5 pillars of modifiable behaviors that are deeply connected to pain: daily movement, sleep, emotional health, nutrition and therapeutic exercise.
  • One-on-one support from our licensed pain coaches who provide support, guidance, and motivation helping individuals improve their wellbeing across the domains of mental, emotional, social and occupational health.
  • Digitally-delivered, clinically-validated content that is reflective of the member’s unique needs and goals.
